Kelly Willis is an artist of incomparable talent. Her voice is reminiscent of a backcountry road -- smooth and even one minute, gritty the next. She flits effortlessly between full blown country rockers to tender ballads throughout, giving Translated From Love warmth and instant accessibility. Willis, who co-wrote most of the songs on the album, teamed up with the prodigious Chuck Prophet and chart-topping songwriter Jules Shear to make, what may very well be deemed her most prolific recording to date. Stand-out tracks include the Willis/Prophet tune "Sweet Little One," featuring the Tosca String Quartet and the Willis/Prophet/Shear tune "Don't Know Why." She also took her turn recording some personal favorites including Damon Bramblett's , "Nobody Wants to Go to the Moon Anymore," Adam Green's, "Teddy Boys," Stephen Yerkey's , " Translated From Love," and (would you believe?) a raucous, countrified version of Iggy Pop's , "Success," featuring none other thanThe Gourds and Michael Ramos.Visit the official Kelly Willis website to learn more about her.
